Strokestown House and Famine Museum is a wonderful place to spend the day. Strokestown House is not a trust owned home and it was been left exactly as it was when the last people lived there. It is one of my favourite houses to go to for that very reason, it is so different to any other house you will see. The gardens have been fully restored and are lovely to walk around and enjoy. The museum is a very sobering experience offering an insight into this very sad part of Irish history. Somewhere during the day make a visit to the tea room which offers some lovely delights. This is another one of our guests favourite places to visit when they stay at The Old Rectory Bed and Breakfast in lovely Co. Leitrim.
