Had a lovely weekend in Cong Co. Mayo, Mayo is such a beautiful county and one that I enjoy spending time in. We stayed at the lovely Ashford Lodge with spectacular views of Lough Corrib. We took a cruise on Lough Corrib on the first morning, the lake was near flat and the sun made an appearance. The captain was very informative and it was a lovely way to start the day. From there we headed to Connemara National Park and walked the Diamond Hill Trail to the top, what a view, and a perfect day for walking. We had a lovely dinner in Cong to finish the day. Another beautiful morning with breakfast looking out over Lough Corrib and then a walk around Ashford Castle and along Lough Corrib and the forests, got a little lost along the way and had to double back a few times due to the construction fences around the castle which is getting a multi-million three phase face lift inside and out and is due to be reopened the end of April.
