WEDDING CHECKLIST

After the excitement of your engagement, there will be a point when you will start looking at what your wedding day will look like.  It is easy at this point to get a little overwhelmed with all the aspects or organising your wedding day and that is where having a wedding checklist will make your life so much easier.

  1. The very first step is to sit down with your partner and discuss the type of wedding you both want.  This will give you both the opportunity to explore what is important to you for your wedding day and marry these together so both of you are happy with how the day will go.
  2. Making your guest list is one of the most difficult parts of planning your wedding.  It is important to live within your budget and this will dictate to some degree how many guests you will invite.  Start with those you can’t imagine not having with you on your wedding day and working your way down.
  3. Setting your budget for each aspect of your wedding will help to keep you on budget.  Start with the essentials of the day and then look at things that you would like but if it means going over budget you can do without them.
  4. With these three pieces of information you are ready to start looking at venues that both suit the style of wedding you would like, can host the number of guests you will be inviting and are within your budget.
  5. A lot of venues now also host your wedding ceremony which can be very helpful to both your guests and you.  Far less moving around is more sustainable.  If you are planning a church wedding, make contact with your church or a church near your wedding venue.
  6. Book your ceremony music.
  7. Once these core booking are completed you need to book your Photographer, book your videographer if you are having one, and book the band.
  8. Look in to wedding insurance.
  9. Now the fun part if you haven’t already started looking!!!  Book appointments with bridal shops to try on wedding dresses, and order your Wedding Dress.
  10. Make bookings for your hair and makeup.
  11. Pop the question to your bridal party once you know who you’d like to ask (that’s if you want a bridal party of course!)
  12. Think about DIY projects, if you are lucky enough to book a venue that allows you to do some decorating yourself it is a fabulous way to personalise your tables and seating plan to reflect you as a couple.  Small touches like the colour of your napkins and really give a pop to the tables.
  13. Your venue will give you a list of accommodation for guests
  14. Think about going all online for your wedding invitation and getting your guests to response.  Again thinking of the planet.
  15. I won’t be popular for saying this but think outside the box for your wedding cake and also make sure the cake size reflects the number of guests you will be having at your wedding.
  16. You will find a lot of options out there for hiring the groom’s and groomsmen suits.
  17. Start looking for bridesmaids dresses and include your bridesmaids in this process. There are loads of options out there for choosing dresses that are the same colour in different styles to suit all your bridesmaids.
  18. Book pre-marriage course (if getting married in a Catholic church)
  19. Book your honeymoon – the days leading up to your wedding are action packed and full of emotions of every kind.  The days afterwards can be a bit exhausting so maybe think about having a few days to relax with family and friends who have traveled to your wedding and then head off on your honeymoon.
