Spent a lovely afternoon visiting Glencar Waterfall in the Northern part of our lovely county and also took a walk to the Devil’s Chimney just a short distance away. It was lovely to get out as we are getting a little stir crazy here at The Old Rectory Self Catering Leitrim with all this rain and what better option than to go and see the spectacular part of all the rain. It has been a number of years since I have been to Glencar Waterfall and I have been planning a trip up there ever since the new Tea Shop opened and it didn’t disappoint with lovely views out the full glass windows and lovely things to tempt the palate. The county council have done a great job having recently put in a new car park, toilets, resurfaced the walkway and put in a small playground to keep everyone happy. We have
never been to the Devil’s Chimney and we could see it as we approached Glencar Waterfall so we ventured on and again parking for a few cars, signpost of the walk and the surface recently redone. All in all a lovely afternoon, we were lucky enough to meet the Sligo mountaineer group and one of the group gave us the map of the walk they had just done, so when the weather picks up we will head up there again.
