The Cavan Burren
The Cavan Burren is only 35 minutes from The Old Rectory, Leitrim and the drive there is beautiful it is close to The Shannon Pot and the road there is also the route of the Kingfisher Cycle trail. It has been on my list for some time now and somehow all the rest of the family have been there with different tours. The interpretive centre is beautifully done with big displays and lots of information on the geography of the area and stories of the Giants grave and the Calf house. This autumn I think has been exceptional for colour and mushrooms, and the light that has shown them off to their best. There are a number a walks of varying lengths and fantastic views of the surrounding countryside. They have a Winter Solstice guided walk there on the 18th of December.
