The Old Rectory – Leitrim

Last week all the lovely thatched cottages, including the one we were staying in, reminded me of my Great Aunts thatched cottage that we loved to go to, it was pretty much as it had been for 100 years, it was the cottage she had been born in and went on to live her married life in. It also brought to mind Pat, Siobhan, and Padraig’s tour of Sean Mac Diarmada house, they came back talking about settels, open firer places, the sloped floors, the ladder to the loft and half doors. There were some lovely thatched cottages in the village of Poukan and in the surrounding area, so lovely to see the tradition is alive and well in rural Ireland.
