The Governor’s House and Goal in Nenagh
There is something so unusual about a octagon house and the Governor’s house in Nenagh is an interesting one. The goal in Nenagh was built between 1840 and 1842 due to overcrowding in the goal in Thurles and it was a two day walk from the north of the county to the south. The model of the goal shows the prison buildings positioned around the governor’s house connected by bridges. It was quite a big prison with buildings for both the men and women. Now it is used as a heritage centre with great displays.
