Boyle Model Railway was created by The Menshed in Boyle. Padraig and I went to see it last Thursday and we were very impressed. We both have an interest in model trains and we were excited when we received an invitation to go and have a look. It is a great project taken on by a group of men who mostly didn’t know much about model railways up to a few months ago but they have surely risen to the challenge. It was much bigger than we expected and is a work in progress as all railways are. They have a lot of track laid out and are working on building the scenery around it. I am always fascinated by the little tiny people and the their tools. Padraig had a fantastic time talking to the men about the trains and telling them what he had and he was interested in the fact that they might hold classes on scenery making so they could get more volunteers to help out. It will be open to the public free of charge for the summer every Friday and is located on the top floor of the Trojan building down by Boyle railway station. It is well worth a look.
